Preparing for the Arctic winter requires more than just throwing your thickest sweater into a suitcase. The key to surviving and enjoying temperatures that can plummet to -30°C is the layering system.

Start with a high-quality merino wool base layer. Avoid cotton at all costs, as it traps moisture and freezes. Next, add a thick fleece or wool mid-layer for insulation. Finally, a wind and waterproof outer shell is critical. Don't forget extremities: insulated boots, thick wool socks, inner gloves, and thick mittens.
